At 15, I convinced the editor of the local city paper to let me launch a weekly column giving youth a voice. It turned into a three-year column and I was quickly asked to fill-in for the staff reporters. In high school, I was the news anchor of the school’s morning TV show, the editor of the school paper, I interned at the local NPR station and I often spent time at the local TV stations after school and stuck around ‘till late night newscasts to soak up everything from the reporters and anchors who let me tag along.

Those same journalists, years later, helped create my first reel for my first TV job and have turned into dear friends and colleagues.
